i love my city, part 4

these city posts are becoming more and more spread apart and farther from the date i went. there’s just so much to share in between! and honestly, i feel that i keep revisiting this day for so many reasons. i loved the company, i missed my city so much, and i found myself in a whole new way where i could appreciate nyc with just myself.

along our journey walking around Lisbeth and I stumbled upon the coolest store ever. i mean it. we both plan to design everything surrounding our children (and our children, themselves) around the clothes, decorations, bedding, and even mama clothes that are around.

Marimekko had crazy colors, prints, and a certain modernity and positivity that came along with it. we chose to ignore the clearly-out-of-reach prices for our lifestyles right now (hahahah) and enjoyed everything…really. everything

Imageany shape and color you could think of!

printed patterns to create your own masterpieces…ahhhhhh!!!

my future children will be wearing all of these outfits…thank you very much!

after our adventure of shopping and cringing and all the things we wanted but couldn’t have just yet..we moved onto another favorite past-time. eating. madison square eats was going on (the last day is tomorrow so get there before it’s over!!) and they had all kinds of food, drink, etc. and the atmosphere was just overall so “new york.” we got some awesome sangria and hot dogs and marveled/tried things at the other stands. it was really, too good to be true.

so many people…of all different “breeds” …another reason why i love you and miss you so much..hope to see you soon.

so this wraps up my most recent and first time back in my city after a commitment to my “self” and it obviously went more than well. ending this post is somewhat bittersweet but i look forward to coming back, very soon.

love you, mean it

ananda

p.s. have you guys seen these??!! i read/see that now in the city the bikes are actually there now but apparently these things are located all around the city for fees that work similarly to metro cards for people to just overall get around the city- for work, school, meetings, etc. from my understanding, it’s mostly for those belonging to the city and it’s an attempt to becoming more “green” i think it’s super innovative and awesome. i wonder how successful it’ll be and i look forward to hopefully seeing a few businessmen riding down 42nd to get to work. haha. we’ll see.

people watching is always fun. like always. it’s one of my favorite past times. and there’s no where better for people watching than any park in nyc. lisbeth and i after sarabeth’s just sat in the park and caught up the best way we know how: celebrity gossip. i cannot tell you how many times i look down at my phone during any given a week and it’s a photo of some ridiculous celebrity doing something ridiculous..that…and memes. she really brightens my day up and i’m blessed that we have a friendship where no matter how far we are and at any distance, i truly call her a best friend. she really gets me.

we people-watched in madison sq park for a while where we shared videos; watched dogs do strange things (as well as their owners); some kick-ass outfits, shoes, and bags where we then dreamed about the day we could afford it all; and of course, tons of crazy little babies and kids.

madison sq park had this awesome installation by Orly Genger called Red, Yellow, and Blue. there are areas of the park with displays of nautical rope piled and woven throughout the park..painted in yes, the colors red, yellow, and blue. it’s absolutely astounding and i would truly recommend taking a look. another reason that i miss and will always love new york…the beautiful minds, art, and everyone’s appreciate of it.

IMG_3047i love you to death girl. you always bring me back to being me and have always supported me. we started with our amazing trip studying abroad in China and now look where we are! i’m so happy and proud of you for grad school and can’t wait to see you often. xoxo

i love my city, part 1

i visited my city today. new york, that is. it was strange to be back after so long and i was reluctant considering how many changes have taken place in my life since i had been back as well as thinking of all the associations i had with the city.

it felt amazing to be back, though. i could finally step foot in the LIRR and walk out on 7th ave just looking around and not only relieving by reliving (which is true) but re-defining my experiences and emotions that are associated…all for me.

i got to spend time with one of my best friends in the world and literally..all things new york were going on all around in madison square. it was one of the best days i’ve spent in the city and with amazing company. i can’t wait to return and rediscover more about the city during this time.

Imagesarabeth’s …so adorable yet mod. we definitely have to return for breakfast sometime.. the menu is perf.

Imageamazing pastries that I wanted one of everything of… i mean some on cookies, scone, (bundt) cake, jam, and pie galore!!!

Imageour ice cream sandwich flight. do i even really need to say anything else? i couldn’t decide if the pistachio ice cream or salted caramel was my favorite (dipped in amazing jam, of course). i love the strawberry.

sarabeth…you have completely floored me and i would love to share breakfast with you.
